Royal Cinque Ports is a two-time former host of the Open Championship that winds its way between the dunes on a narrow stretch of land extending to Sandwich Bay. The fairways are typically undulating for a links course and there are plenty of bunkers. For the most part these are steep and riveted, but they are large and easily seen from the tees. When you reach the greens you’ll find they are among the largest, fastest and finest in the UK. In 2002 the Club was placed both 47th place in the ‘Golf World Top 100 Courses’ and the ‘Top 10 Favourite Courses’ in the Independent National Newspaper.
Take the A258 from Sandwich. In Upper Deal leave for Middle Deal Road left turn into Albert Road Western Road on to Golf Road (or if travelling from Dover, take the A258 via Sea front and Godwin Road). |
